Terms and Conditions

LEMO Social · LEMO Venture GmbH, Switzerland

Version: 1.1

Effective Date: 22 June 2026

Contact: lemo@lemoventure.com · lemo.social

Welcome to LEMO Social. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LEMO Social mobile application and web platform (collectively, the "Platform") operated by LEMO Venture GmbH ("LEMO", "we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in Switzerland.

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Platform.

1. Eligibility

To use LEMO Social, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Be a currently enrolled or recently graduated student, faculty member, or staff of a partner university verified by LEMO;
  • Have a valid institutional email address associated with a participating university (e.g. @uzh.ch, @student.unisg.ch); and
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements in your jurisdiction.

LEMO reserves the right to verify your university affiliation at any time. Access may be suspended or revoked if eligibility cannot be confirmed.

2. Account Registration and Access

2.1 Account Creation

You must register using a valid university email address. By registering, you represent that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.

2.2 Verification

LEMO confirms your university affiliation by sending a magic link to your institutional email address. Access to the Platform is granted only upon successful authentication via that link. Attempting to falsify your affiliation or gain access using an email address that does not belong to you is a material breach of these Terms.

2.3 Magic Link Access

LEMO does not use passwords. Instead, you receive a time-limited magic link via email each time you log in. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure. If you believe someone has accessed your LEMO account without your permission, contact us immediately at lemo@lemoventure.com.

2.4 One Account Per Person

You may only hold one active account on the Platform. Creating duplicate or fake accounts is prohibited.

3. Use of the Platform

3.1 Permitted Use

LEMO Social is designed to connect verified university students and facilitate authentic campus social interaction. Permitted uses include:

  • Creating and sharing posts, polls, stories, and other content within the community;
  • Connecting and messaging with other verified students;
  • Participating in campus events, groups, and ambassador programmes;
  • Engaging with partner content and brand collaborations visible on the Platform.

3.2 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Post, share, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, obscene, pornographic, or otherwise objectionable;
  • Impersonate any person, organisation, or university entity;
  • Engage in spamming, unsolicited advertising, or promotional campaigns without LEMO's prior written consent;
  • Use the Platform to collect or harvest personal data of other users without authorisation;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform's systems, networks, or databases;
  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or scripts to interact with the Platform;
  • Upload content that contains viruses, malware, or other malicious code;
  • Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security features of the Platform;
  • Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.

LEMO reserves the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account found to be in breach of these prohibitions, without prior notice.

4. Community Guidelines

These Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. By using LEMO Social, you agree to uphold them.

4.1 Be Real

LEMO is a verified campus network. Use your real identity, represent your actual university affiliation, and engage authentically. Fake profiles, misleading information, and impersonation are not tolerated.

4.2 Be Respectful

Treat every person on the Platform with respect. Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or any content that targets someone based on their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.

4.3 Keep It Campus-Relevant

LEMO exists to enhance student life. Share content, opinions, events, and experiences that are relevant to the student and university context. Spam, off-topic commercial promotion, and content unrelated to the campus community detract from the experience for everyone.

4.4 No Harmful Content

Do not post content that promotes self-harm, violence, eating disorders, dangerous behaviour, or illegal activity. This includes glorifying substance abuse, sharing explicit or graphic imagery, or encouraging others to break the law.

4.5 Respect Privacy

Do not share personal information about other people — including photos, contact details, or private messages — without their explicit consent. What happens in someone's DMs stays there.

4.6 No Misinformation

Do not deliberately spread false or misleading information, especially content that could cause harm to individuals, groups, or the university community.

4.7 No Unsolicited Promotion

LEMO has formal partnerships and a creator programme for brand and commercial activity. Unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, or pyramid scheme promotion is not permitted. If you are interested in working with LEMO commercially, reach out to lemo@lemoventure.com.

4.8 Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines, report it through the in-app reporting tool or contact us at lemo@lemoventure.com. We take reports seriously and will investigate within a reasonable timeframe.

4.9 Consequences

Violations of these guidelines may result in content removal, a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination, depending on the severity and frequency of the breach.

5. User-Generated Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you create and post on the Platform ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant LEMO a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such content in connection with operating and promoting the Platform, including in marketing materials.

5.2 Content Standards

All User Content must comply with the Community Guidelines in Section 4. Content that violates those guidelines may be removed at LEMO's sole discretion.

5.3 LEMO's Right to Remove Content

LEMO does not pre-screen User Content but reserves the right to review, edit, or remove any content at any time and for any reason, including content we consider in breach of these Terms or applicable law.

5.4 No Responsibility for Third-Party Content

LEMO is not responsible for content posted by other users. If you encounter content that violates these Terms, please use the in-app reporting tool or contact lemo@lemoventure.com.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 LEMO's IP

All intellectual property rights in the Platform — including its design, software, trademarks (including the LEMO name, logo, and "You know where." tagline), and content created by LEMO — are owned by or licensed to LEMO Venture GmbH. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use LEMO's intellectual property without express written permission.

6.2 Feedback

If you submit ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Platform ("Feedback"), you grant LEMO a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use that Feedback in any way without compensation to you.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy matters to us. The collection and processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at lemo.social/privacy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

LEMO processes personal data in accordance with:

  • The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revDSG / nDSG), in force since 1 September 2023; and
  • The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to the extent applicable.

By using the Platform, you consent to data processing as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Third-Party Services and Brand Partners

The Platform may feature content, offers, or integrations from third-party brand partners ("Partners"). LEMO is not responsible for the products, services, or privacy practices of any Partner. Your dealings with Partners are solely between you and the respective Partner.

Sponsored content and partner activations will be clearly labelled as such on the Platform. The presence of sponsored content does not constitute an endorsement by LEMO of the Partner or their offerings.

9. Ambassador and Creator Programme

Participation in the LEMO Ambassador or LEMO Creators programme is subject to separate programme-specific terms communicated at onboarding. In the event of any conflict between those terms and these Terms, these Terms shall prevail unless the programme terms explicitly state otherwise.

Ambassadors and Creators act as independent representatives and are not employees, agents, or contractors of LEMO unless explicitly agreed in a separate written agreement.

10. Beta Access

During any designated beta testing period, the Platform (or features thereof) is made available for evaluation purposes. It may be incomplete, subject to significant change, or discontinued at any time without notice. Participating in the beta does not create any right to continued access or specific features post-launch.

By joining the beta, you acknowledge the Platform may contain bugs, errors, or instabilities, and agree to report issues in good faith to help us improve the product. You can do so at tech@lemoventure.com.

11. No Guarantees About the Platform

We built LEMO Social to be reliable and useful, but we cannot promise it will always work perfectly. The Platform is provided as-is — meaning we do not guarantee it will be available at all times, free of errors, or that it will meet every expectation you have of it. We are a small team working hard to make it great, but things can go wrong: features may change, content may occasionally be unavailable, and we may need to take the Platform offline for maintenance.

This is standard practice for apps and digital platforms. It does not mean we are careless — it simply means we are honest about the limits of what we can promise.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Swiss law, LEMO Venture GmbH, its founders, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of opportunities, or reputational harm — arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms limits LEMO's liability for harm caused by our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under Swiss law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LEMO Venture GmbH and its founders, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use of the Platform;
  • Your User Content;
  • Your violation of these Terms; or
  • Your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Termination

14.1 By You

You may close your account at any time by contacting lemo@lemoventure.com or using the in-app account deletion feature. Deletion of your account will remove your profile and associated content, subject to our data retention obligations under applicable law.

14.2 By LEMO

LEMO may suspend or permanently terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or acted in a manner harmful to other users or the LEMO community.

14.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — shall continue to apply.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Zürich, Switzerland.

Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute informally by contacting LEMO at lemo@lemoventure.com and giving us 30 days to respond.

16. Changes to These Terms

LEMO may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

The most current version is always available at lemo.social/terms.

17. Miscellaneous

17.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any supplementary programme terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and LEMO regarding your use of the Platform and supersede all prior agreements.

17.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, it shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17.3 No Waiver

LEMO's failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

17.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without LEMO's prior written consent. LEMO may assign these Terms without restriction.

17.5 Language

These Terms are drafted in English. Any translations provided are for convenience only. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity, the English version shall prevail.
